Spiritual Maturity

Spiritual Maturity- Dave Washburn

In the world maturity means grow up, get out of your parents' house, and figure out life for yourself. For God, spiritual maturity is total dependence on Him.

I Corinthians 3:1-7
And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, [even] as unto babes in Christ.
I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able [to bear it], neither yet now are ye able.
For ye are yet carnal: for whereas [there is] among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
(4) For while one saith, I (spiritual maturity) am of Paul; and another, I [am] of Apollos; are ye not carnal?
Who then is Paul, and who [is] Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?
I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

Isaiah 14:12
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! [how] art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

Hebrews 5:13 and 14
Hbr 5:13 KJV - For every one that useth milk [is] unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
Hbr 5:14 KJV - But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, [even] those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
"Use" of righteousness means use your access to God.
New Mindset- Now  (I've made Jesus Christ Lord of my life) I can't do anything with out God!
I signed on when I believed Romans 10:9 and 10.
"By reason of use" means (you) use your access to God. Then you can "eat the strong meat."

(Side note: Isaiah describes in great detail the sufferings of Christ. The gospels are not as descriptive, but here...
Hbr 5:7 KJV - Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;... It gives a peek into how Jesus Christ approached the Father during his cruxifiction.
Conclusion- He just gave it all to God. His hurt, his fears, his disgust, everything. He offered it up in prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears (that's got to be a figure of speech "crying and tears") Christ really loved us and really trusted Him "that was able to save him from death.")

Genesis 12:1-7
Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram [was] seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.
And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite [was] then in the land.
And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.
Imagine being asked to walk away from everything. When you believed Romans 10:9 you are being asked to walk away from everything the world has to offer. Leave everything to the degree you walk away will be to the degree you see the power of God in your life.

Exodus 2:7-13
You can rigorously work for nothing. These cities made to the gods and kings are now long buried. The Children of Israel were asked to leave everything. Even though it was very terrible. They longed to go back. They didn't want to depend on God.

And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.
And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.
And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that [there was] no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?
And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.

Matthew 11:25-30
At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.
All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and [he] to whomsoever the Son will reveal [him].
Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light.
God is asking you to look to him. The burden is light.

Matthew 13:43

"Those who hath ears to hear- let him hear this means have meekness and humility. You've got ears dont you? The disciples were the ones who hung around after fellowship to figure out what Jesus Christ was talking about.

How do you Phillipians 4? "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Trust in the Father. Believing is simply outstretched arms.

Matthew 26:38-42
Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou [wilt].
And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed [is] willing, but the flesh [is] weak.
He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
Jesus Christ had outstretched arms.

Mark 14: 33-36
"All things are possible..." It's not our problem to figure out how it will work out.

In Hebrews God showed JC the reward and consequences of what laying down his life would bring.
Want to lose? Have a problem and try to fix it yourself.

John 5:19
Jesus Christ was totally dependent on the Father.
Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
Romans 10: 9 and 10
Say it out loud. "I now belong to God!"

Philippians 3:1-9
Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed [is] not grievous, but for you [it is] safe.
Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.
For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, [of] the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
Yea doubtless, and I count all things [but] loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them [but] dung, that I may win Christ,
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
Verse 9 "which is of the law" means my own accomplishments. The world is still playing that old background tune.

Who is Righteous?

About three weeks ago my family all gathered around to hear God's Word. As we settled in Francis told us about Anatabloc, an anti-inflammatory supplement derived from anatabine. She gave us several examples of how pains she's had for years are gone after taking Anatabloc. Others pitched in the remedies they have found, and my mom couldn't resist putting her two cents in. After everyone finished saying what was working for them, Dave said, "It's been five years since God put it on my heart to work righteousness. Since then I have been sick one time- and that was a short time." Don't want to be sick? Get your head around "righteousness."

Romans 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Soon after I listened to Dr. Wierwille read different versions of Romans 5. For the first time verse 19 just jumped out at me. God had shown me some time ago that dwelling on the negatives of the world is the opposite of the accomplished work of Jesus Christ. Indeed I decided I would not ever again let my mouth or thoughts talk about how bad the economy was, how bad the politicians were, how evil the world was getting... In fact, Jesus Christ walked the earth during a time many people turned their hearts from God and were really evil. They crucified the Lord of Glory after all. After hearing Romans 5:19 however my heart became cemented in focusing only on God.

For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners...

You don't have to look far to see the fallout from Adam's sin. That's what the devil wants you to focus on. "Sufficient is the day and the evil thereof."

BUT!!! ".....by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous."
BUT!!! "That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord."

For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, [which is] by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many

-GRACE REIGNS MUCH MORE- GRACE REGINS MUCH MORE- GRACE REIGNS MUCH MORE-

This means there is nothing you can see in the world that compares to the grace of God. There is no evil in the world, not Newton, Connecticut, not politics, not the economy, no poverty, nothing compares to the grace of God and His righteousness.

Keep your focus on God. Now all there is to do is find out what is this "grace."

Yay God

"Why Not" by Sophie Elie

"Why Not" by Sophie Elie

Why not believe God for something impossible?

Why not expect his favor for you to be unstoppable?

Why not ask for something so ridiculous from Him,

and push your prayer life to the edge of presumption?

Why not?

Why not walk each step with the swagger of a champion?

Why not expect your strength to exceed that of Samson?

You were not called to be sad, you were not called to be weak

So why not expect words from Dad everytime that you speak?

Why not?

Why not live your life as a victory?

Why not walk like I believe that His grace is sufficient for me?

Step out of your comfort zone and into the light

There is a reason He strengthened you with power and might

Too long you have spent on your belly in the dust

So why not make today the day that you walk out on your trust?

Why not make today the best day of your life?

Why not live today as literally Christ?

Why not expect a miracle every hour?

Why not deliver millions of people with Christ's power?

Why not expect your walk to oppress the devil?

Why not make everyday his hell?

Why not heal the sick and raise the dead?

Why not make today the day that you're the one in his head?

You are the one with the power of life,

so why not make him regret the day he crucified Christ?

Why not ruin his every plan of attack,

until he is the one begging for Christ to come back?

God's word works, like He promised it would

So why not expect your life to be good?

Why not expect your life to be great?

Why wait?

Why waste another day on sickness or depression,

when all you have to do is decide to let God in?

Why not let today be the day that you truly forgive?

Why not make the simple choice to finally fully live?

You've nothing to lose and everything to gain

So why not refuse to live your life in pain?

You've no right to be injured, but you've EVERY right to healing

So why not soak every prayer in believing?

Why not pray for something amazingly huge,

Something that you alone could never do?

Why not pray so big, and so impossible,

that God has to prove that His power is unstoppable?

Why not live everything that you know,

and see how far you and God can really go?

Make today the day that you give God's power a shot

His word always works, so don't ask why; but

Why Not?
